Auto-scrubber

An auto-scrubber is a floor-cleaning machine that sprays cleaning solution, scrubs, and vacuums up dirty water in one pass. It’s used on large commercial floors like warehouses, stores, and schools. Paired with the right pad and cleaner, it cleans without dulling the finish. It saves a lot of time over mopping.

Using an Auto-Scrubber on Polished or Coated Concrete

Think of an auto-scrubber as a mop, bucket, and wet vac rolled into one machine. It’s the go-to tool for cleaning large areas of polished concrete, from showrooms to warehouses. On a small home floor, a dust mop and damp mop are usually all you need.

The machine is only as gentle as the pad and cleaner you put in it. For polished floors, the recommendation is a nonabrasive pad and a neutral floor cleaner. Aggressive pads or harsh chemicals can scratch or etch the surface and wear through a guard coat faster. A pH-neutral cleaner is the safe default on polished, stained, and coated floors.

Dirt left on the floor acts as an abrasive that dulls the shine, so regular scrubbing protects the finish as much as it cleans it.

Auto-Scrubber FAQ

What does an auto-scrubber do?

An auto-scrubber puts down cleaning solution, scrubs the floor with a pad or brush, and vacuums the dirty water back up, all in one pass. The floor is left clean and nearly dry. That makes it much faster than mopping on large commercial floors.

What is the difference between a floor scrubber and an auto-scrubber?

The terms are often used for the same machine. “Auto-scrubber” usually means a scrubber that also picks up the dirty water as it goes. Some simpler floor machines only scrub and leave the water for a separate pickup step.
